Amorette’s Patisserie Cake Decorating and Epcot Review: A Creative Disney Day
On the third day of our Disney World trip, we kicked off the day with Amorette’s Patisserie Cake Decorating. The class is a 90-minute hands-on experience that my daughter will cherish. She’s a big fan of cooking shows and has a keen interest in baking.
Amorette’s Patisserie Cake Decorating Experience at Disney Springs
Amorette’s is a charming bakery located in Disney Springs. As you arrive you are offered specialty coffees which is a nice treat early in the morning. We had reserved 2 tables for Amorette’s Patisserie cake decorating experience, so 4 of us took part in making a Mickey Mouse-decorated dome cake. As we sat down, our instructor a seasoned chef who had been with Disney for 15 years and was one of the founding chefs at the Be Our Guest restaurant, guided us through the cake-decorating process.
What to Expect Amorette’s Cake Decorating Experience
Each table decorated its own Mickey Mouse dome cake, it was like making your own edible work of art. It was interesting to learn and work with the different ingredients to make our Mickey cake. For example, Mickey’s iconic ears are made out of white chocolate painted black with edible paint.
Learning about the intricate process of cake decorating was an incredibly fun and fascinating experience, and the instructor was very helpful along the process. In this cake-decorating class, we made a classic Mickey Mouse dome cake. Making the iconic classic Mickey design cake, made the entire experience even more special and a great time was had by all.
Amorette’s Bakery kindly stored our cakes until the end of the day, allowing us to head straight to Epcot afterward. Not only did they store the cakes, but they put the cakes into their display case, so anyone coming into the bakery during the day would see our cakes.
When we returned to pick up our cakes, we stayed at Amorette’s to enjoy some coffee and to savor of their gorgeous pastries, which were also delicious.
The cakes we made were delicious and we finished both of them before returning home. Having a piece of our delightful cake every evening was a pleasant treat every evening when we returned from the parks.
I suggest doing this activity early in your trip, so you have time to finish the cakes while still in Disney World. The Mickey dome cake was sent home in the most delightful box, which doubles as Mickey’s ears storage box after you finish the cake—just be sure to leave room in your suitcase.I was able to pack the cake box in our checked luggage and use it to store our mini souvenirs.

Exploring Epcot: Rides, Dining, and Flower & Garden Festival
We visited Epcot on the second day of our Walt Disney World Resort vacation. There are often Epcot Festivals going on, and when we visited it was the Flower and Garden festival, which made for great photo ops! It was interesting to see our favorite Disney characters made out of plants.
Along the way, we took some lovely photos with Disney Photographers. I highly suggest getting Photopass. We got some great family pictures each day. My kids were always on the lookout for the Disney Photographers which didn’t have long lines.
We had 12:40 lunch reservations at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall. We arrived at Epcot around 12, which gave us ample time to stroll to Norway.

However, my daughter was ecstatic to meet all the princesses (Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, Tiana, and Aurora) and loved taking pictures with them.Next, you’ll paint Mickey’s ears, tail, and yellow buttons using a variety of colors and techniques, bringing your cake to life. As for the food at Akershus Royal Banquet, I felt it wasn’t as kid-friendly as other Disney restaurants. Our group of 5 people had vastly different tastes in food, which included meat eaters, vegetarians, and kids.
I felt Akershus didn’t quite meet all of our tastes in the way the buffet restaurants do. My daughter only ate the mac and cheese, and my son would only eat the rolls. Despite this, the food was delicious, and both kids enjoyed the dessert. This is a Disney restaurant we won’t be repeating. Note that advance reservations are needed for Arkershus dining.

Our Favorite Epcot Rides and Attractions
We spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying rides at Epcot. We were able to cover World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature. We experienced Mission: Spaceship Earth, Soarin’, Living with the Land, Frozen Ever After, and Turtle Talk with Crush.
We are not thrill-ride people, so Test Track and Guardians of the Galaxy were not on our to-do list for the day. Thrill seekers will have to plan on a virtual queue for some rides at Epcot. Since many of the rides we did want to go on had lower wait times, we did a good amount of Epcot by around 4 PM.
By 4 pm we all needed a break, so we headed back to the hotel (Marriott Imperial Palms Villas) for a bit of rest. We had another day scheduled for Epcot, where we planned on eating around the World at the World Showcase, so the focus on day 1 was going on rides and attractions at Epcot. By 4 pm we all needed a break, so we headed back to the hotel (Marriott Imperial Palms Villas) for a bit of rest. Having vacation club accommodations with kitchen facilities was perfect for storing our cakes and relaxing between park visits.
On our return day at Epcot, we also planned on seeing the evening show- Luminous- The Story of Us. We were also saving Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure for our 2nd day at Epcot.
Fireworks at Magic Kingdom: A Perfect End to a Magical Day
That evening, we decided to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom Park, an event the kids were eagerly anticipating. We managed to get quite close to the castle, and the fireworks show was absolutely breathtaking. My kids and I were in complete awe.
